Energy meters are commonly used in Energy Storage Systems to measure the power and energy of the entire installation. They are installed in the distribution box, minimising the import or export of energy to the grid. They can also be used to measure the output power of a photovoltaic inverter or AC loads and display the data on GX devices such as Cerbo GX or Ekrano GX, as well as on the VRM Portal.
Victron EM540 Energy Meter can be configured for four different roles in a GX device:
- As a grid meter, used as an input control for the ESS system.
- To measure the output power of a photovoltaic inverter.
- To measure the output power of an AC generator.
- As an AC meter to measure a dedicated AC load circuit.
The EM540 Energy Meter can be connected to a GX device in two ways:
- Wired connection via an RS485-to-USB interface with a 1.8 m or 5 m cable.
- Wireless connection via our Zigbee-to-USB and Zigbee-to-RS485 converter.
